An Oceanfront Avalon Home
The last home on the block before the dunes. Sweeping Atlantic views from nearly every window. Repeat clients who came back to Cooltronics for a top-to-bottom system because they’d already lived with our work and knew what to expect.
This was, in many ways, a poster-child project for what we do. Structured wiring and networking throughout. Lutron lighting, shade, and drapery control in every room. Indoor Samsung Frame TVs that present as artwork when not in use. A Samsung Terrace outdoor TV on the deck. Indoor and outdoor speakers — with the exterior speakers custom-painted to match the wood ceiling so they read as part of the architecture, not equipment hanging from it. Josh.ai voice control (the homeowner named hers “Nikola”). And Security by Private Eyes integrated cameras, smart locks, and 24/7 monitoring.
The standout, though, was a problem nothing off-the-shelf could solve. The owner wanted to look out and see the ocean from inside the house. The owner did not want people walking on the beach below to look in. Conventional shades solve one or the other. Ours had to solve both. So our team engineered a custom bottom-up privacy shade system using Lutron components — the shades rise from the sill rather than dropping from the header, blocking the lower portion of the window at exactly head-height for someone standing on the dunes, while leaving the upper portion completely open to the view. It’s the kind of solution that doesn’t exist until someone designs it.
